Learning and development
Our graduate schemes are tailored to meet the needs of our business areas and include a huge variety of opportunities. It means that the training and development you receive will depend very much on the scheme you choose and the specialist career path you want to follow.
Some of our programmes offer professional qualifications, others provide in-house training, and all of them guarantee on-the-job learning that will give you the support you need. One thing’s for certain, we're committed to providing you with the guidance and opportunities you need to achieve your career aspirations. Starting with a thorough welcome and induction programme, we’ll ensure your programme gives you early responsibility and that you gain valuable hands-on experience and pick up expert advice from the professionals working alongside you.
Your development doesn't just begin and end with your graduate scheme either. In addition to the specific training offered on each scheme, we’ve established two development initiatives that run across the whole group: The Leadership Commitment and
HBOS-U.
The Leadership Commitment
At HBOS, we nurture talent. We’ve developed the Leadership Commitment – our definition of what leadership is – to ensure we recruit talented colleagues and encourage their development. There are four aspects to our Commitment to Leadership:

HBOS–U
Through HBOS–U we deliver targeted and focused development solutions for colleagues, who we believe drive the success of our business. HBOS-U provides access to a wide range of options including face-to-face workshops, e-learning and online library resources, all aligned to our Leadership Commitment. And on many of our graduate schemes, you'll have access to this comprehensive curriculum designed to support your development as a future HBOS leader.
